The National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) recently conducted inspections across 493 real estate developers, revealing violations at 216 of these companies. The primary issues identified involved non-compliance with minimum usable space requirements for apartments, as well as inadequate information provided to consumers regarding purchase agreements.
Following these inspections, the ANPC issued 166 penalties amounting to nearly 979,200 lei. In addition, the authority removed 3,055 housing units from the market that failed to meet legal standards. Measures for financial compensation to affected consumers were also implemented.
The ANPC stresses the importance of consumers thoroughly checking key aspects prior to signing any preliminary contracts. It is crucial for buyers to confirm the legality of construction permits and to scrutinize contractual clauses carefully.
