In 2025, a gendarme who was recruited from an external source, meaning they did not have military training, received a net salary of 6,632 lei, equivalent to about 1,335 euros, while the gross income reached 8,639 lei. This total reflects both the base salary and additional payments for hours worked beyond the regular schedule.
A significant portion of this income was generated from extra work. The young gendarme accumulated 61 hours of additional work, particularly during weekends and legal holidays, for which they earned approximately 1,160 lei in addition to the base salary. This clearly demonstrates that overtime can have a major impact on monthly earnings, even for those just starting their careers.

In contrast, those with experience, higher ranks, or involved in special missions can earn between 7,500 and 8,000 lei monthly, or even more. For officers or those holding leadership positions, the earnings can surpass these thresholds.
