Interim PSD president, Sorin Grindeanu, stated on Monday that PSD demands the Bolojan Government to rapidly assume in Parliament the „elimination of all privileges and injustices.”

„We can do a responsibility assumption tomorrow regarding the elimination of privileges, of all types. (..) We can quickly create this package, and PSD is ready to swiftly enter this process of responsibility assumption for eliminating privileges,” said the PSD leader.

He mentioned that he had discussions with party leaders, who agreed to support such a package of measures.

„I presented an update to them, and everyone agreed that this possible responsibility assumption should be approached differently, and everyone concurred with my proposal. Yes, we can do a responsibility assumption tomorrow for eliminating privileges, of all kinds. (..)

We can rapidly establish this package, and PSD is eager to promptly engage in this process of responsibility assumption for the elimination of privileges. On the second part, regarding other fiscal measures, things should be more structured,” the PSD leader added. Grindeanu noted that discussions were underway for budgetary rectification, which the Finance Ministry has begun working on, and where dialogue with all ministries is necessary.

„We need to know where we stand, what we intend to achieve by the end of the year, to ensure we meet all macroeconomic targets. From there, we will discuss fiscal measures from the second package, which, from our perspective, falls into two categories.

One part, as I’ve mentioned before, needs to address certain excesses from the first package, and secondly, measures aimed at taxing capital, particularly for multinationals, and ensuring better tracking of the revenues they generate, pricing, and taxing transfers or money exiting the country,” Sorin Grindeanu highlighted.

According to the PSD leader, „we also need to discuss a new insolvency law, and work is underway on that.”

On Wednesday, there will be a meeting between the National Union of County Councils of Romania and Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, and PSD is working on a technical document to continue investments in water, sewage, gas, and roads. Grindeanu stated that for PSD, projects from the Anghel Saligny program are considered a „red line.”

The PSD president declared that the discussion with Ilie Bolojan must be technical and not political, as „it is not political to have or not have water or roads in a community.”
